Satirah’s Tip

Don’t over-plan this trip!

Make reservations for the things you absolutely don’t want to miss, especially Christmas shows and the bigger attractions. Then leave some holes in your schedule.

Stop at random shops downtown. Pull into one of those ridiculous tourist traps on the Strip. Take a drive around the lake.

And before you start booking, check my Branson Discounts page! I have discounts for shows, attractions and hotels, including some of the places in this guide.

Top of the Rock + Big Cedar Christmas Date Night

If you only steal one date idea from this list, make it this one!

Start with Nature at Night at Top of the Rock. You’ll take a golf cart through the Lost Canyon trail surrounded by millions of Christmas lights.

If it’s chilly, grab something warm to drink, bring a blanket and snuggle up. This is one of my favorite Christmas traditions in Branson.

Then head next door to Big Cedar Lodge and make an entire evening out of it.

Drive through Big Cedar’s Christmas lights and have dinner at Devil’s Pool or make reservations at Worman House if you want something nicer. If the weather is decent, finish the night at Harry’s Cocktail Lounge with cocktails and small bites by the fire.

Worman House followed by Harry’s makes a fabulous Christmas date night!

If you really want to splurge, stay at Big Cedar and call it a night.

Thinking about proposing? Top of the Rock would be one of my top two choices at Christmas.

Silver Dollar City at Christmas

An amusement park might not be the first place you think of for a romantic Christmas date but hear me out.

Ride a roller coaster. Snack your way around the park. Walk through millions of Christmas lights. Ride the train after dark. See a Christmas show. Take the cave tour during the day.

Basically, go act like kids again!

And find the butter toffee hot chocolate. I wait all year for that stuff.

Silver Dollar City is also my other pick for a Christmas proposal.

Just try not to do it on a Saturday. Saturdays during Christmas can be CRAZY, and that’s probably not the audience you want for your proposal. 😂

Get Dressed Up and Go to a Christmas Show

If you want to get dressed up and go to the theater, go see Miracle of Christmas at Sight & Sound.

You’re not going to get much better than this for a Christmas theater date in Branson. It’s a huge production, and it brings the Christmas story back to what the season is actually about.

Want something more fun and high-energy? Go see Dean Z’s Rockin’ Christmas Show.

Want an old-school traditional Branson Christmas show? Go to Presleys’ Country Jubilee.

The Duttons are another solid choice!

I have discounts for some of these shows, so check my discount page before you buy tickets.

Get a Couples Massage at Birch & Willow

Christmas in Branson gets busy. Take a few hours off and book a couples massage at Birch & Willow.

The massage therapists are fantastic, it’s reasonably priced, and they have a sauna and a hangout area where you can stay and relax afterward.

This is also a good one to save for a cold or rainy December day!

Spend an Evening in Historic Downtown Branson

Leave yourself a few hours to wander around Historic Downtown Branson.

Shop. Check out the Christmas decorations. Pop into whatever store catches your attention. You don’t really need a plan here.

Then have dinner at Hidden Pines.

They go ALL OUT for Christmas, and the decorations are a big part of why I love going this time of year. The food is yummy too. I’m ordering the ribeye every single time.

Want dessert?

If you want the full 1950s diner experience, go to Cakes & Creams.

If you want to make it a cheap date, stop at Abby’s Tourist Trap for a $1 ice cream. 😂

Check Out Branson’s Christkindlmarkt

The Branson Christkindlmarkt is a separate stop from downtown, but I definitely think it belongs on a couples Christmas trip.

Wander through the market, do a little shopping and grab something from one of the food trucks. You don’t have to make everything a huge production. Sometimes walking around with something good to eat and nowhere you have to be for an hour is enough.

Have a Slow Morning at Steamy Joe

Not everything needs to be a big Christmas production.

Go have breakfast at Steamy Joe at The Bradford.

Josh gets the breakfast bowl with a side of biscuits and gravy and dumps the biscuits and gravy right over the top. It sounds like a lot because it IS a lot. 😂

But one of my favorite things about Steamy Joe is the view!

Go early. It gets busy, and going early gives you a better chance of avoiding a long wait and getting one of the best tables so you can actually enjoy that view.

Where to Stay for a Romantic Christmas Getaway

If money isn’t an issue, stay at Big Cedar Lodge or The Grotto.

Big Cedar gives you the full Christmas experience and puts you right next to several things on this list. The Grotto is adults-only and is a great option if you want something quieter and more private.

For a normal-person budget, I like Element by Westin or The Bradford.

Trying to keep the hotel bill down? Look at one of the rooms with a Jacuzzi tub at Grand Plaza Hotel or Rosebud Inn.

I have hotel discounts too, so check those before you book!
