Best Christmas Shows in Branson, MO: Which One Is Right for You?
Best Christmas Shows in Branson, Missouri: Which One Is Right for You?
If you’re searching for the best Christmas shows in Branson, I’m going to give you an answer that probably isn’t very helpful at first.
It depends.
There are a LOT of Christmas shows in Branson, and I don’t think there is one show that is best for everybody. The show I would take my grandma to is not necessarily the one I would recommend for teenagers. And the show I would pick for a family with little kids is completely different from what I would choose for a girls’ trip.
I’ve seen every show I’m talking about in this article. I also hear from thousands of Branson visitors every year about what they loved, what their kids loved and what they probably wouldn’t pay to see again.
There are simply too many Christmas shows for me to cover all of them here, so I’m sticking with the ones that have strong reviews, the ones my followers consistently tell me they love and the ones I think are worth considering.

Satirah’s Tip
You do NOT have to see a show just because you came to Branson.
I have horrible ADHD, and sitting through an entire show can be hard for me sometimes. If driving around looking at Christmas lights sounds more fun to you, or playing board games at the resort with your family sounds like a better time, do what makes you happy!
Maybe half the group goes to the show and half go to the pub. Whatever works for you.
There is plenty to do in Branson at Christmas without ever stepping inside a theater.

What Is the Best Branson Christmas Show for All Ages?
The Haygoods
I love The Haygoods. If you want one music show that can usually make Grandma, Mom and the teenagers happy, this is probably where I would start.
Five brothers. One sister. And in my opinion, the best-produced music show on the Strip.
The first half is their regular show, then after intermission Christmas takes over. There are pyrotechnics, incredible musicianship and at one point you have a guy playing guitar while flying upside down over the audience. Then Catherine sits down with her harp and gives you one of those beautiful, touching moments that makes the whole theater quiet. And of course there is Timothy, better known as Banjo Boy, who will have you laughing and stomping your feet.
This one works for almost every age, but I especially like it for younger adults and teenagers who may not think a “Branson show” sounds very exciting.
The Haygoods sell out constantly during Christmas, so this is one I would book well before your trip.
I also have a discount for The Haygoods.
What Is the Best Christian Christmas Show in Branson?
Miracle of Christmas
Miracle of Christmas at Sight & Sound does not feel like a Branson show.
It feels more like a massive Broadway production.
The stage wraps around you. The sets are larger than life. Live animals and actors come down the aisles. The vocals and acting are outstanding.
And then there is the message.
This is one of those shows that can pierce your heart and bring you right back to the reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place. I always leave with my heart full of love and awe.
I think adults of just about any age can love this one. Small kids may struggle because it is a longer show and there is quite a bit of sitting.
This is also another show I would book early. Miracle of Christmas can absolutely sell out during the holiday season.
What Is the Best Traditional Branson Christmas Show?
Hughes Brothers Christmas Show
This is a Branson Christmas standard.
The Hughes Brothers Christmas Show is Christmas through and through. You have the original brothers performing alongside their wives, kids and grandkids, beautiful costumes, family numbers and lots of Christmas tradition.
The best way I can describe it is a modern-day Lawrence Welk Christmas show.
This is the show that makes me wish my grandma were still alive so I could take her. I also would have happily taken my nieces when they were little.
Would this be my first recommendation for most teenagers or middle-aged adults? Probably not. That doesn’t mean they won’t enjoy it. There are just other shows on this list I would probably send them to first.
You can also add dinner to some performances, which makes it an easy full evening.
I have a discount for Hughes Brothers too.

What Is the Best Branson Christmas Show for Young Kids?
Dolly Parton’s Stampede
Dolly Parton’s Stampede is a classic Branson tourist attraction, and this is one of those touristy things I don’t mind at all.
At Christmas, the show turns into North Pole versus South Pole, and you get the horses, Christmas entertainment and dinner while you watch.
This is a great choice for younger kids because you’re sitting in a horse arena. They can clap, stomp their feet, cheer and be loud without you spending the whole show trying to keep them perfectly still and quiet.
If you’ve seen Stampede once, you’ve seen it a million times. But there is a reason tourists have loved it for so many years, and for a child’s first Branson Christmas show, I think it’s a fantastic choice.
Stampede also almost never sells out, so this isn’t one I would panic about booking months in advance.
I have a Dolly Parton’s Stampede discount too.

What Is the Most Classic Branson Christmas Show?
Presleys’ Country Jubilee
If you want old-school Branson, this is it.
Presleys’ Country Jubilee is the classic show that started it all on the 76 Strip. When I picture a traditional Branson show, this is pretty much what I imagine.
A massive live band. Traditional vocals. Lots of slapstick comedy. Herkimer and Cecil still keep people laughing every night.
This show is a hit with the older crowd, and if someone tells me they miss the Branson they remember from years ago, Presleys is one of the first places I would send them.
I also remember it snowing over the audience during the Christmas show, which was pretty cool.
And while we’re talking about important information, Presleys has my favorite “show nuts” in Branson. Lots of theaters sell those warm roasted nuts, but these are the best. Covered in that cinnamon-sugary goodness, they are a weakness I simply cannot overcome.

What Is the Best Branson Christmas Show for Music Lovers?
The Duttons
One family. So many voices. So many instruments. So much talent.
I can’t possibly cover everything this family does on stage in one little section.
What stands out to me most is how much family clearly matters to them. You have multiple generations working together, and the sheer amount of musical talent on that stage is ridiculous.
If you are a music lover, this is your show!
I also think The Duttons work well for all ages because there is so much happening on stage and so much variety.
And when the show is over, Abby’s Tourist Trap is right there in the parking lot. Grab an ice cream for a dollar and some of the best fudge in town before you leave!
I also have a discount for The Duttons.
What Is the Best Branson Christmas Show for a Girls’ Trip?
Dean Z
I didn’t even think I liked Elvis until I saw Dean Z!
This isn’t some tribute artist. He becomes Elvis.
He wiggles. He jiggles. He brings an energy I never expected. The men are tapping their feet and singing along.
And the grannies go FERAL.
His gorgeous wife even takes the stage and shows off her own pipes.
This is such a fun choice if you want something different at Christmas, and I would absolutely put Dean Z on the list for an adult girls’ trip.

What Is an Underrated Branson Christmas Show?
Cassandré: The Voice of an Angel
When my husband and I first pulled up to Cassandré’s show and I saw all the tour buses outside, I thought I knew exactly what kind of crowd we were walking into.
I was wrong.
We were busting a gut laughing.
Cassandré is genuinely hilarious, and the title Voice of an Angel is appropriate because her singing voice is angelic.
Fun fact: her husband is Timothy Haygood, the famous Banjo Boy from The Haygoods, and he joins her on stage for this performance!
The first half has a mix of music, and after intermission it turns to Christmas.
I think adults will probably appreciate this one the most, but it is completely appropriate for all ages. This was one of those shows I went into not knowing what to expect and ended up having a fantastic time.
What About Branson’s Christmas Wonderland?
I know this one comes up all the time when people start searching for Branson Christmas shows, so I do want to mention it.
I’ve seen it, and there are some genuinely cute moments. I actually think kids may enjoy it more than I did.
It just isn’t one of my personal favorites.
There are so many Christmas shows in Branson that if I were spending my own money, I would choose several of the shows above first.
Are the Christmas Shows at Silver Dollar City Worth Seeing?
Yes!
The shows are included with your Silver Dollar City ticket, and for a lot of people they are a big part of going to An Old Time Christmas.
The saloon show runs during the day, and it is silly and fun. This one is a big hit with all ages, but kids especially love it.
A Dickens’ Christmas Carol is another daytime show that is very well done. If you are a theater person, you will love this one.
Both of those also give you a chance to sit down inside and warm up for a while, which can feel pretty fabulous on a chilly December day.
Then in the evening, they do the Living Nativity in one of their outdoor covered theaters. You aren’t going in there to warm up, but it is worth watching. It is a beautiful way to slow down for a little bit and remember what the season is really about.
Get in line early for the shows you really want to see. Some of these are surprisingly popular and can fill up.

So What Is the Best Christmas Show in Branson?
There isn’t one.
And that’s really the whole point.
Don’t pick a show because somebody told you it’s the “best show in Branson.” Pick the one that sounds like the most fun for the people you’re bringing.
And if you read this entire article and still think Christmas lights, board games at the resort or heading to the pub sounds better?
Do that!
It’s your vacation. Spend it doing the things that make you happy.
Branson Christmas Show FAQs
Are Branson Christmas Shows Different From the Regular Shows?
Yes, but every show handles Christmas differently. Some change to Christmas after intermission, some are Christmas from beginning to end and others are completely separate holiday productions.
How Far in Advance Should I Buy Branson Christmas Show Tickets?
It depends on the show.
If you want The Haygoods or Miracle of Christmas, I would not wait until you arrive in Branson. Those can sell out well in advance, especially on popular Christmas travel dates.
Other shows give you more flexibility. Dolly Parton’s Stampede, for example, almost never sells out.
If your family has one show they absolutely have their hearts set on seeing, I would still buy the tickets before your trip rather than risk it.

Are Branson Christmas Shows Good for Kids?
Some are much better for kids than others.
For little kids, I especially like Dolly Parton’s Stampede because they can be loud and excited. The Silver Dollar City saloon show is another easy choice.
For older kids and teenagers, I would probably start with The Haygoods.
Do I Have to See a Show When I Visit Branson at Christmas?
Absolutely not!
There are Christmas lights, Silver Dollar City, attractions, shopping, restaurants and enough Christmas activities to keep you busy for days.
If shows are not your thing, spend your money somewhere else.
