What to Eat in Branson This Fall

One of the questions I get asked the most every fall is, “Where should we eat?”

The answer is a little different this time of year.

Fall means cozy coffee shops, soup season, patio weather, wineries, hearty breakfasts, and way too many trips to Silver Dollar City.

If you’re visiting Branson this fall, these are the places I think are worth making room for.

🍁 If You’re Going to Silver Dollar City's Harvest Festival, Don’t Skip the Tasting Passport

If you’re already planning a day at Silver Dollar City’s Harvest Festival, do yourself a favor and buy the Tasting Passport.

Every single year, without fail, I order two things.

The chicken andouille sausage gumbo over cheese grits and the apple dumpling.

Those are non-negotiable.

Beyond that, I love trying whatever new items they come up with. The pumpkin chili is another favorite of mine, and people go absolutely crazy for the pumpkin whoopie pies.

That’s part of the fun. There’s always something new, and there’s always something yummy.

If you’re already walking around admiring thousands of pumpkins and glowing jack-o’-lanterns, make the food part of the experience too.

☀️ My Favorite Way to Start a Fall Morning

If you ask me where I’m headed on a cool fall morning, it’s probably Steamy Joe.

Tucked away at The Bradford, this little coffee shop looks like it belongs in a Nancy Meyers movie.

The front porch is decorated so cute for the season, and the whole place just feels welcoming before you ever walk through the door.

One of my favorite things to do is load up my dogs, grab a coffee, and sit under the gazebo while we watch the sun come up through the fall colors.

If you’re ordering breakfast, get the cinnamon roll French toast.

Then ask them to make it with bananas and Nutella.

Calories don’t count on vacation.

🥞 If You’re Hungry Hungry…

Steamy Joe wins for atmosphere.

Gettin’ Basted wins for breakfast.

This is not your typical bacon-and-eggs kind of place.

Their brisket breakfast tacos are my go-to order, and don’t even think about leaving without ordering the cinnamon pull-apart bread.

Forget the cinnamon bread at Silver Dollar City.

This is my favorite sweet breakfast in Branson.

Just don’t wait too long.

It has a habit of selling out.

The pancake flight is another menu item people rave about, and if you’ve got a group, it’s a fun way to try a little bit of everything.

🌧️ Rainy Day Favorites

There’s just something about a rainy fall day that makes me want soup.

For me, that almost always means Sugar Leaf Bakery.

Walking inside feels like you’ve stepped into a little French café. They decorate beautifully for fall, and it’s the kind of place where you don’t mind lingering over lunch.

My order is almost always the chicken and wild rice soup with a sandwich or salad.

If the weather has you slowing down for the afternoon, this is exactly where I’d be.

🥧 Save Room for Pie

If you’re looking for a cozy place to end the afternoon, head over to The Pie Safe.

Imagine a tiny coffee shop with Bridgerton vibes.

They have individual pies, slices of larger pies, specialty coffee, and a menu that changes throughout the year.

My favorite drink is the Nutella latte.

And while the pie flavors rotate, I can never pass up the coconut pie when it’s available.

It’s one of those places that makes you want to slow down and stay awhile.

Sometimes you just need caffeine before you start exploring.

Table Rock Coffee Roasters is my go-to drive-through coffee stop.

The main Branson location is drive-through only, making it perfect for grabbing coffee before heading to Silver Dollar City or starting your day around town.

Pro tip: I have a QR code that saves you 10% on your order, so don’t forget to use it.

🍽️ When the Weather Finally Cools Off

The minute those temperatures start dropping, I start craving comfort food.

For me, that’s Local Flavor.

This is one of the few restaurants on the Strip that I recommend over and over again because I’ve honestly never had a bad meal there.

Start with the fried pepper jack cheese cubes.

Trust me.

My favorite entrée is the catfish.

And don’t tell my mom…

Michelle’s German chocolate cake might actually beat our family recipe.

I never thought I’d admit that out loud.

🌅 Fall Patios Worth Slowing Down For

One of my favorite things about fall is that it finally becomes patio season again.

The humidity starts backing off, the evenings cool down, and suddenly eating outside sounds like a good idea again.

These are the patios I keep finding myself coming back to every fall.

🍺 Downing Street Pour House

If I’m meeting friends for lunch, there’s a good chance we’re heading to Historic Downtown Hollister.

Ask to sit on the back patio.

It feels tucked away from everything, and after lunch you can spend an hour wandering the little English-style downtown.

While you’re there, order the Reuben.

I’ve had a lot of Reubens over the years, and this one is still my favorite.

🍹 The Patio at Little Hacienda

Friday afternoons were made for this patio.

Half-price margarita flights.

Enough said.

Seriously though, this is one of my favorite places to meet friends, relax for a couple of hours, and enjoy the weather before heading off to whatever adventure comes next.

🍷 Bear Creek Winery

If someone tells me they want a relaxing afternoon, this is one of the first places that comes to mind.

Just north of Branson, Bear Creek has one of my favorite patios in the area.

Bring your dog.

Order a wine slushy, local beer, or a glass of wine.

Grab a pizza.

If you’re lucky, there will be live music on the patio.

It’s one of those places where you plan to stay an hour and somehow the whole afternoon disappears.

🍷 Cellar 417

This is where my bougie Branson Besties are hanging out.

Cellar 417 sits over in Kimberling City overlooking Table Rock Lake.

The patio is beautiful, the wine cave is worth exploring, and they have an impressive wine list along with a full bar.

But don’t make the mistake of thinking this is only a place to sip wine.

The food is outstanding.

If you’ve got a foodie in your group, this one belongs on your list.

🌅 Harry’s Cocktail Lounge & Bar

If my husband and I are planning a date night, this is where you’ll probably find us.

The drive into Big Cedar is absolutely gorgeous in the fall.

Don’t rush it.

There’s even a scenic overlook where you can pull off, snap a few pictures, and take in the view before you make your way down to Harry’s.

He’ll order a cigar.

I’ll order a mocktail and an appetizer.

Then we’ll sit on the patio and watch the sun disappear over Table Rock Lake.

If you want to turn it into a full evening, make reservations upstairs at the Worman House.

It’s one of my favorite date nights in the Ozarks.

🌙 After Dinner…

If you’re looking for somewhere to hang out after dinner, check out Lake Vibes.

This isn’t necessarily a place I’d send you in the middle of the afternoon.

It’s where I’d send you once the sun starts going down.

They regularly host live music and special events throughout the fall, but not every weekend, so check their schedule before you go.

If there’s an event happening while you’re in town, it’s a fun place to kick back, enjoy the music, and soak up an Ozarks fall evening.

🎃 Places That Are Just Plain Fun

Sometimes you pick a restaurant because you’re hungry.

Sometimes you pick it because it makes you smile.

These are those places.

👻 Hidden Pines Becomes Haunted Pines

Every fall, Hidden Pines transforms into Haunted Pines.

If spooky-dooky is your vibe, you’re going to love this place.

They don’t mess around.

Giant Halloween decorations.

Skeletons.

Bubbling cauldron drinks.

The whole place gets into the Halloween spirit.

Later in the season they also bring back my favorite…

Soup flights.

I wait for those every single year.

Hidden Pines is part of Summit, so after dinner you can also grab a drink at one of the bars or enjoy the nightlife if that’s your thing.

Just be sure to check their hours before you go because they aren’t open every day.

🧙 Mythical 'Wich

Another Halloween favorite is Mythical 'Wich.

This place isn’t spooky.

It’s whimsical.

The walls are covered with Bigfoot, dragons, unicorns, and other mythical creatures that make the whole restaurant feel like you’ve stepped into a storybook.

They’re best known for their sandwiches, but I actually think they have some of the best salads in Branson.

And don’t sleep on breakfast.

Their breakfast sandwiches are fantastic, and you absolutely need an order of the mini pancakes.

🌮 Walker’s

Walker’s is one of those places people remember long after vacation is over.

This zombie-themed walking taco shop is tiny enough that you could walk right past it if you weren’t paying attention.

Walking tacos are kind of a Midwest thing. They build your taco right inside a bag of chips so you can grab it and keep exploring Historic Downtown Branson.

The owner is absolutely hilarious, and they’re always coming up with ridiculous food challenges.

The last time I was there, they had me spin the Mutation Station wheel.

I was praying I wouldn’t land on brains or scorpions.

Instead…

They landed on the one where they get to choose.

That’s how I ended up eating a fried turkey testicle.

I’m still questioning that decision.
