Best Things to Do in Branson at Christmas 2026
Best Things to Do in Branson at Christmas 2026
If you’re coming to Branson, Missouri this Christmas, these are the things I would actually spend my time and money doing. Christmas is a BIG deal around here, and some activities are absolutely more worth squeezing into your vacation than others.
Whether you’re coming in November or December, you’ll have more Christmas activities than you could possibly fit into one trip!

⭐ My Take: You cannot do all the Christmas things in one trip. Pick the things that fit your family, leave yourself some time to actually enjoy your vacation and come back next year!
Before you start booking everything, check my Branson discounts. I have discounts for several of the shows, attractions and places to stay around town. No timeshare presentation required!
1. Silver Dollar City’s An Old Time Christmas
There’s a reason Silver Dollar City is first on this list. It’s probably the biggest reason people come to Branson during Christmas, and it’s by far the most popular Christmas activity in town.
And yes, putting Silver Dollar City at #1 probably seems cliché, but it really is everything you imagine Christmas in Branson to be.
You’ve got millions of twinkling lights, Christmas shows, shopping, the parade, the train, the Nativity, rides and more Christmas food than any human being reasonably needs to consume in one day.
It’s also the one thing that can usually please everybody in the group. Grandma wants Christmas shows? Done. Kids want rides? Done. You want to shop? Plenty of that. Somebody just wants to walk around eating cinnamon bread and looking at Christmas lights? I fully support this plan.
This is a FULL day activity for me, and yes, there are crowds. If you have flexibility, avoid Saturdays. I especially like going earlier in November or early December.

2. Nature at Night at Top of the Rock
Nature at Night at Top of the Rock is my favorite Christmas light experience in Branson.
You get your own golf cart and drive through the trail at night while the woods, waterfalls and rock formations are lit up around you. The lights aren’t overly Christmasy. They’re more nature-ish, which is part of what makes this so different from everything else in town.
It is absolutely gorgeous.
I also think this is one of the most romantic Christmas activities in Branson. Grab a blanket, cuddle up in the golf cart and go look at Christmas lights in the Ozarks. Families absolutely enjoy it too!
Do not wait until the last minute to book this one. By the end of October, several nights are usually already sold out. If Nature at Night is one of your must-do Christmas activities, get your tickets early.

3. See a Branson Christmas Show
You can’t talk about Christmas in Branson without talking about Christmas shows. There are a LOT of them.
My favorite Christmas show in Branson is Miracle of Christmas at Sight & Sound Theatre.
I’ve seen it several times, and this one is a production! The sets are massive, live animals come through the theater and it tells the story of the birth of Jesus. It’s one of those shows that actually feels worthy of taking up a chunk of your Christmas vacation.
Miracle of Christmas isn’t the only Christmas show I recommend. The Haygoods are always high on my list, and there are several others I recommend depending on who you’re traveling with, including Hughes Brothers Christmas Show, Dean Z, Dolly Parton’s Stampede Christmas, the Duttons and Presleys’ Country Jubilee.
I broke all of those down in my Christmas show guide, including who I think each show is best for. And I have discounts for several of them!

Miracle of Christmas sells out regularly during the Christmas season, so this is another one I would buy ahead.
4. North Pole Adventure at Shepherd of the Hills
If you have younger kids, North Pole Adventure at Shepherd of the Hills is one of the Christmas activities I would put high on your list.
There’s face painting, Santa, Christmas lights, play areas, mini golf, the Treetop Sky Trail and different activities around the property.
Last year we bought a s’mores kit and sat around the fire making s’mores, which is exactly the kind of simple Christmas stuff my family enjoys.
Here’s my biggest tip: Get there before dark.
Let the kids run around and enjoy the activities while you still have daylight. Then when the sun goes down and all those Christmas lights come on, it feels like you’re getting a completely different experience.
Shepherd of the Hills also has Trail of Lights if you want a traditional drive-through Christmas light experience.
And I can save you money here! Use discount code SLBHILLS to save 15% on everything at Shepherd of the Hills except the Christmas carriage rides.
And yes, they have Christmas carriage rides!

5. Promised Land Zoo Let There Be Lights
If you’re looking for the best value for families, I think Promised Land Zoo wins, especially if you use my discount.
Let There Be Lights starts with a drive-through Christmas light display, but that’s not where your night ends.
After you drive through the lights, you park the car and get out. You can go through the petting zoo, head to the barn to see Santa and visit another indoor area with more animals.
That’s why I think your money goes farther here than at a traditional drive-through light display.
I’ve also done several of their upgraded animal encounters, and I absolutely think they’re worth it! If I had younger kids and wanted Christmas lights plus something for them to actually do, Promised Land Zoo would be high on my list.

6. Big Cedar Lodge Home for the Holidays
You do NOT have to stay at Big Cedar Lodge to enjoy Christmas there, but this year you will need a reservation to get onto the property.
Big Cedar is basically an entire resort covered in Christmas lights during the holidays. You can drive through the property to see the lights, or they have a Christmas tram ride if you’d rather let somebody else do the driving.
For 2026, they also have snow tubing and ice skating, plus restaurants all over the property. You could easily turn this into an entire Christmas evening.
If you’re trying to decide between Big Cedar and Nature at Night, Nature at Night is still my personal pick. They’re very different experiences, though. And since some of my favorite restaurants in the area are at Big Cedar, dinner and Christmas lights can make a fantastic date night.

7. Drive Around Branson and Look at Christmas Lights for FREE
Not everything on your Christmas vacation needs another ticket attached to it.
Start toward the northwest side of Highway 76 and drive the Strip toward downtown. A lot of the businesses go all out decorating for Christmas, so there’s plenty to see just driving through town.
And there’s one place you absolutely need to watch for.
The Chick-fil-A on Main Street.
I know. Unexpected.
The Chick-fil-A near downtown goes ALL OUT for Christmas. It’s covered in lights, and they even turn the drive-through into a light tunnel.
So many people slow down to look and don’t even realize they’re staring at a Chick-fil-A until they start paying attention.
It’s ridiculous.
In the best way.

BONUS: Branson Christkindlmarkt Is New for 2026
This is the one thing on this list I haven’t done yet because 2026 is the first year!
Branson is getting a brand-new Christkindlmarkt this Christmas, and I am really looking forward to seeing how this one comes together. It’s a European-style Christmas market with shopping, food, entertainment and all the Christmas-market things happening right here in Branson.
And admission is FREE!
Obviously, I’m not going to tell you it’s one of my favorite Christmas activities before I’ve actually experienced it. But it’s new, it’s free and I’m excited about it, so I absolutely think it deserves to be on your radar.

What About Lights of Joy?
Lights of Joy is another Christmas light display I get asked about every year.
In the past, it hasn’t been one of my favorites, and I’ve gotten my fair share of complaints about it too.
BUT, word on the street is that Lights of Joy is getting an upgrade for 2026. The price is also going up, so I’m not ready to tell you whether I think it’s worth the money yet.
I need to lay eyes on it first!
As soon as it opens, I’ll go check it out and let you know what I think. If the upgrades are fantastic, I will happily come back here and tell you that.
But Satirah, What About the Polar Express?
I get asked about the Polar Express ALL THE TIME, and I wish I could put it on this list.
I’ve done it in the past. When it got new owners last year, I was hopeful that the feedback I was going to get would be positive.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t.
I’m not here to bash local businesses. That’s not what I do. But the Polar Express continues to be one of the Christmas activities I receive the most complaints about from my followers.
If you’re considering it and want to understand why I no longer recommend it, go look at its Google reviews specifically from November and December 2025. I’ll let those reviews speak for themselves.
You work hard for your money, and I only want to send you to places I feel confident recommending.
I would LOVE to see this experience step up its game because the idea is precious and people desperately want to love it. For now, though, I don’t feel confident enough to send you there.

For some things, absolutely.
