Free Christmas Things to Do in Branson, Missouri in 2026

Free Christmas Things to Do in Branson, Missouri in 2026

People tell me all the time that Christmas in Branson is too expensive, but I’m here to disprove that! There are plenty of completely free Christmas things to do in Branson, including Christmas lights, the Christkindlmarkt, the Adoration Parade, free Santa photos and special Christmas events for kids.

For years, we used points from my grandparents’ timeshare that they never should have bought and didn’t use. We would pick one or two things to splurge on, like Silver Dollar City or tickets to the Haygoods, and then fill the rest of our vacation with resort amenities, things to do at the condo and free activities around Branson.

Drive Around Branson and Look at Christmas Lights for Free

This is probably my favorite free Christmas thing to do in Branson.

And this still seems crazy to me.

With as big as Christmas is in Branson, I wish we had one of those huge city-run light displays like I grew up with in Oklahoma.

We don’t.

But you can still have a fun night without buying another ticket!

Start toward the northwest side of Highway 76 and drive the Strip toward downtown. A lot of the businesses along the Strip go all out decorating for Christmas, so there’s plenty to see just driving through town.

When you get near the Branson Ferris Wheel, slow down and maybe even park for a few minutes. The Ferris wheel and giant Christmas tree have a synchronized light show set to Christmas music. It’s quite a little free show!

Keep going and you’ll pass the Aquarium at the Boardwalk, which also has a fountain show set to Christmas music outside. You don’t need an aquarium ticket to watch it.

Then keep heading toward downtown because there’s one place you absolutely need to watch for.

The Chick-fil-A on Main Street

The Chick-fil-A near downtown on Main Street goes ALL OUT!

It’s in the area we call Hamburger Hill because there are so many hamburger places clustered together.

They started doing this Christmas extravaganza a handful of years ago, and when people come off the exit and start heading that way, they see all those lights and think, “What is THAT?”

Then you get closer and realize it’s Chick-fil-A. 😂

They even turn the drive-through into a light tunnel.

It’s one of those completely unexpected little surprises that makes your heart happy.

And if you really want to make a night out of this, pop some kettle corn, make some hot cocoa and put it in cups WITH LIDS, throw on your PJs and turn on your favorite Christmas Spotify station.

Ask your kids what they remember from Christmases in the past. Tell them about Christmas when you were a kid. Tell them what Christmas means to you.

You don’t have to spend $150 to make a Christmas memory.

Visit the Branson Christkindlmarkt for Free

The Branson Christkindlmarkt is brand new for 2026, so I can’t sit here and tell you I’ve been.

None of us have! 😂

But admission is completely free, and they’re planning musicians and entertainment, photo opportunities, Santa on select nights, fire pits and a big warming tent where you can hang out.

Of course, there will also be plenty of food, drinks and things to buy.

So can you go to the Christkindlmarkt for free? Absolutely.

Will you leave without spending any money? That part is between you and your bank account. 😂

I have an entire article with the dates and everything else you need to know, so I’m not going to repeat all of that here.

See the Gingerbread Houses at Chateau on the Lake

Chateau on the Lake is one of the coolest hotels in Branson, although I generally don’t recommend staying there because I think the rooms are pretty outdated.

But one thing people LOVE about Chateau at Christmas is the gingerbread houses they put on display in the lobby.

Truth be told, I don’t get quite as excited about this one as everybody else seems to. 😂

It’s a bit of a drive to look at something for about five minutes.

But if this is your sort of thing, you should absolutely check it out! And yes, you can just walk into the hotel like you own the place.

They’re used to it.

If you want to make the trip a little more worthwhile, stop by the sweet shop for ice cream or head to The Library, their cozy bar, for a drink.

And if the sweet shop has carrot cake, GET IT!

It is so good.

Attend the Branson Adoration Parade & Nativity Lighting

The Branson Adoration Parade is completely free and will take place in Historic Downtown Branson on Sunday, December 6, 2026.

But this one means a little more to me than just another free Christmas event.

Christmas has been hijacked over the years. What is supposed to be a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ can very quickly turn into a celebration of buying presents, spending money and consumerism.

Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love Christmas. Give me the lights, the decorations, the hot chocolate and all of it!

But I also appreciate that Branson has a tradition that stops for a moment and remembers what this season is actually about.

I am a strong person of faith, but I’m also a flawed human being on my own personal faith journey, trying to strengthen my relationship with the Lord.

I need those reminders too.

The evening includes the lighting of the huge Adoration Nativity overlooking Lake Taneycomo, followed by the parade through downtown Branson.

If you’re going, arrive EARLY. Downtown traffic and parking during something like this are going to be nutty.

And if you want to make a whole evening out of it, this would be a great night to drive around and look at the free Christmas lights too.

Free Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt for Kids

This is one I haven’t personally done because I don’t have little kids anymore, but Branson Parks & Recreation has been doing it for several years and it sounds precious!

The Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt is December 15, 2026, at Eiserman Park and is for kids ages 0–12. Kids bring a flashlight and hunt around the park for candy canes Santa’s elves supposedly dropped.

It’s FREE, and pre-registration is encouraged.

If you’re going to be outside running around a park in December, check the weather before you go. Branson weather can be a little ridiculous.

Go to the Christmas Craft Fair and See Santa for Free

I love a good craft fair!

Grab your mama. Grab your sister. Go have a girls’ day.

The Branson Christmas Craft Show is December 12–13, 2026, at the Branson Sports Club. Admission is free, and they’re also offering a free 4x6 photo with Santa.

So is this activity free?

Sure.

Is it free for me?

Probably not because I’m going to spend money there. 😂

Look for Free Santa Photos at Bass Pro Shops

I took my kids to see Santa at Bass Pro when they were little, and I actually visited the Santa setup at the Springfield location again last year.

They always set it up really cute!

Santa typically starts showing up around November 1, and Bass Pro has traditionally offered free Santa photos through its Santa’s Wonderland experience.

As I’m writing this, the 2026 Branson reservations haven’t opened yet, so keep an eye out for them.

And if you’re coming over Thanksgiving break, Christmas break or on a weekend, I would absolutely make a reservation once they become available.
