Think Shopping in Branson Is Just Tanger & Branson Landing? Think Again!
When people ask me where to shop in Branson, the first two places that always come up are Tanger Outlets and Branson Landing.
And don’t get me wrong. They’re both great.
Need a new outfit? Back-to-school shopping? Looking for your favorite national brands? That’s exactly where I’d send you.
But if that’s the only shopping you do while you’re here…
I think you’re missing some of the best stores in Branson.
Truth be told, I’m not much of a shopper. I’m not the girl who wants fifty new outfits or spends six hours wandering the mall. I skim. If something catches my eye, I’ll stop.
I’m also allergic to crowds.
What I love are local stores with personality. Places where you never know what you’re going to find.
I don’t collect stuff.
I collect things that remind me of a trip, a memory, or a place I love.
Anybody can go to the mall.
I’d rather come home with a story.
If that sounds a little more like your style too, here are the places I’d send you.
Everybody Knows These
Let’s get these out of the way first.
Tanger Outlets and Branson Landing are popular for a reason.
Tanger is where I’d go if I needed clothes, shoes, or name-brand stores. Just remember, not every store here is actually an outlet store, even though that’s what everyone calls it.
Branson Landing is a different experience altogether. It’s part shopping, part restaurants, part entertainment. If you’re traveling with kids, it’s easy to spend a few hours here between the fountain show, grabbing something to eat, and browsing the stores.
But if you’re looking for shopping with a little more personality…
Let’s keep going.
Historic Downtown Branson
Everybody talks about Dick’s 5 & 10, and for good reason.
After all…it’s iconic.
If you’ve never been, you absolutely need to walk through it.
But don’t stop there.
That’s when the fun starts!
I almost always wander into Kilroy’s. They’re famous for their classic rock band T-shirts, and they always seem to have whatever viral kid’s toy everyone is going crazy over. If you’ve spent much time in Branson Facebook groups, you’ve probably also heard people talking about their pickles. They’re kind of a big deal.
Then there’s 417 Vintage Market.
Y’all…I have an unhealthy obsession with this place.
This place makes Joanna Gaines’ store look like child’s play.
What I love is the balance. Beautiful antiques. Brand-new home décor. Big statement pieces. Tiny little tchotchkes that somehow end up coming home with me.
And don’t skip Lumière, the little coffee shop tucked inside.
It looks like the lobby of some bougie boutique hotel in Paris.
Grab yourself a coffee, pretend you’re a fancy Nancy for a few minutes, then get back to shopping.
If you love to cook like I do, stop by The Spice Agent before you leave downtown. I could spend way too much time looking through all the seasonings and specialty ingredients.
Before you head back to your car, wander into Peddler Pete’s. Part of the store is inside the old bank vault, which is just plain cool.
If I Only Had One Afternoon Downtown…
Here’s exactly what I’d do.
☕ Grab a coffee from Lumière.
🛍️ Mosey through 417 Vintage Market.
🚶 Ramble through the little shops until you find yourself at Kilroy’s and Peddler Pete’s.
🍽️ If you’re anything like me, you’ve magically worked up an appetite by then.
That means it’s time for lunch at Mythical 'Wich.
Oh! And if you’re planning an October trip, keep an eye on downtown Branson. They haven’t announced the details yet, but they’re planning another fall celebration with sidewalk sales, food trucks, live music, local vendors, and plenty of reasons to spend the day downtown. As soon as the dates are announced, I’ll put together a complete guide because it’s definitely something I’d plan a trip around.
Grand Village Shops
Fun fact…
I actually used to have an office above the shops at Grand Village.
I loved walking into work every morning because it felt like I was stepping into some little European village.
If you’re a reader like I am, don’t skip Fig Tree Books.
Need a break?
Grab a coffee or lunch from Sugar Leaf Bakery & Café, find a bench, and spend a little time people watching before heading back out.
And if you walk into Kringles and don’t get into the Christmas spirit…
You’re probably a Scrooge.
If You Love to Cook…
We’re probably going to end up in the same places.
The Amish Country Store is one of my favorite stops because they have peppercorns I can’t find anywhere else. I always stock up on seasonings while I’m there.
Do I really think the Amish made everything in the store?
I’m not sure.
Do I care?
Nope!
I know their peach habanero jam tastes about as good as your secret sin, and that’s reason enough for me.
While you’re over that way, don’t skip Branson Cheese Company.
Cheese is basically its own food group at my house, and they’ve got a fantastic selection.
Before you head back into town, stop by The Country Barn.
It feels like your grandma decided to open a roadside market.
Fresh produce.
Sun-ripened tomatoes.
Seasonal decorations.
Yard décor.
And a whole bunch of things you didn’t know you needed until they somehow ended up in your shopping cart.
I always leave with a loaf of their fresh sourdough.
Always.
If You Love Hunting for Treasures…
I’m just going to say it.
There is nothing like rifling through dead people’s stuff.
I know…
That sounds terrible.
But half the fun of antique shopping is wondering where something came from and who loved it before you did.
If that sounds like your kind of shopping, here are a few of my favorites.
Swan Valley in Forsyth is one of the most unique because it’s inside an old funeral home. It’s packed with vendor booths selling everything from antiques to trendy clothes, and there’s even a coffee shop if you need a little caffeine break.
Apple Tree Mall is another favorite because you never know what you’re going to find. One booth has creepy dolls. The next has samurai swords. Then somehow you stumble across a KitchenAid mixer you suddenly convince yourself you need.
If you’re looking for higher-end antiques, head to Bratton House.
Last time I was there I found a stuffed raccoon.
Did I want it?
Yes.
Could I afford it?
No!
Other favorites I always enjoy browsing are Two Sisters Antiques, Yesteryear’s inside The Shoppes at Branson Meadows, Flea Hag, and Kendall’s Treasure in Hollister.
My Final Thoughts
Sure.
Go to Tanger.
Go to Branson Landing.
They’re popular for a reason.
But save a little time for the places that give Branson its personality.
The little stores.
The family-owned businesses.
The antique shops.
The places where you walk in looking for one thing and somehow leave with something that reminds you of your trip every time you see it.
Those are the souvenirs I love bringing home.
And if you ask me…
Those are the ones worth making room for in your suitcase.
