Dean Z is already one of my favorite shows in Branson, and his Christmas show is definitely one of the more FUN shows on my Christmas list.

Elvis doesn’t necessarily scream Christmas, so I wasn’t expecting just how much Christmas music Dean manages to pack into the second half. Of course I expected Blue Christmas. But there’s a whole lot more Christmas coming!

Dean Z’s Rockin’ Christmas Show at a Glance

📍 Location: Clay Cooper Theatre on the Branson Strip

🎸 Best For: Date nights, girls’ trips, Elvis fans, music lovers and families looking for a high-energy show

🎄 Christmas Factor: The first half is mostly regular Dean Z. The second half is Christmas, with a few Christmas touches throughout the theater from the beginning.

⏰ Time Needed: Plan on about 2½–3 hours at the theater, including intermission.

👧 Kids: I actually think kids can do pretty well here because there’s plenty of clapping, singing along and energy in the room.

💃 Energy Level: HIGH. People are clapping, snapping their fingers, singing along and getting into it.

⭐ My Take: One of the most FUN Christmas shows on my list, especially if you want something with a little more energy.

Satirah’s Tip

I like sitting toward the front at Clay Cooper Theatre for this one.

I really don’t think there are bad seats in this theater, but Dean is such a physical performer that being closer makes it even more fun.

And get there early if you care where you park. If it’s a busy show, the Clay Cooper parking lot can fill up and you may end up parking somewhere else and walking over.

Is Dean Z’s Rockin’ Christmas Show Worth It?

Absolutely.

This is one of my favorite shows in Branson even when it isn’t Christmas.

It’s high energy without feeling like complete chaos. Everyone is clapping and singing along. My husband was sitting beside me tapping his toes, and I’ve watched grannies go absolutely feral.

I mean FERAL. 😂

It’s just a fun show.

Is Dean Z Really That Good as Elvis?

YES.

Dean won the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest presented by Elvis Presley Enterprises, and once you see him onstage, you understand why.

Elvis Presley wasn’t exactly known for standing still. The way that man moved his hips sent women into a tizzy, and Dean has absolutely nailed those moves.

Calling this an Elvis tribute show almost doesn’t do it justice.

Dean doesn’t just sing Elvis songs. He embodies him.

The music, the clothes, the voice, the movements and the way he works the audience make you feel like you could be sitting at a live Elvis concert in the 1950s.

And some of the women in the audience REALLY get into it.

I’ve watched women at the front of the stage yelling and trying to get Dean to come over so they could kiss him.

Nothing about the actual show felt inappropriate.

The audience, on the other hand? I cannot make promises. 😂

How Christmas-y Is Dean Z’s Christmas Show?

The show I saw was roughly half regular Dean Z and half Christmas.

There were little Christmas touches from the beginning. The theater was decorated, there were Christmas elements on the screens and the lighting had plenty of red.

Then the second half really brought on Christmas.

Obviously, you’re going to get Blue Christmas. How could you not?

But I was surprised by how much Christmas music there actually was.

If you want Christmas music from the second you sit down until the second you leave, this isn’t that kind of show.

If you want a really fun Dean Z show AND Christmas?

There you go.

Do You Have to Love Elvis to Enjoy Dean Z?

Nope.

Obviously, if you love Elvis, you’re going to have a fantastic time.

But I wouldn’t say this is only for die-hard Elvis fans. Dean is a fantastic entertainer, the band is great, and the entire room gets into the music.

This is why I recommend Dean Z so much for girls’ trips and date nights.

And I actually think kids can do pretty well here too. There’s plenty of clapping and singing along, so they aren’t expected to sit completely silent through the entire thing.

Where are the best seats for Dean Z at the Clay Cooper Theatre?

I personally like sitting closer to the front for Dean Z.

There really aren’t bad seats at Clay Cooper Theatre, so I wouldn’t panic if the front sections are already taken. But Dean moves around so much and interacts with the audience that I think being closer adds something to this particular show.

Is Dean Z’s Christmas show good for kids?

I think a lot of kids will do pretty well here, especially kids who like music.

There’s a lot of audience participation, clapping and singing along, so this isn’t one of those shows where I’d be worried about a kid making a tiny bit of noise every five seconds.

Do I need to buy Dean Z tickets in advance?

I would.

Dean usually draws a decent crowd, especially during Christmas. I don’t think you need to panic quite like you do with some of Branson’s Christmas shows that sell out constantly, but I also wouldn’t wait until showtime and assume the seats you want will still be available.

Plus, buying ahead gives you a better shot at getting those seats closer to the front that I like.
