Best Shows to See in Branson This Fall

The Best Shows to See in Branson This Fall

One of the questions I get asked more than anything is, “What’s the best show in Branson?”

The truth is, there isn’t just one.

Branson has well over 100 live shows. I couldn’t possibly talk about all of them, and honestly, I wouldn’t want to. These are the shows I recommend over and over again because they’re seasonal, they’re about to leave, or they’re simply too good for me not to tell you about.

If my Branson Bestie called and said, “I’ve only got a couple nights in Branson…” this is exactly where I’d send them.

If You’re Only Seeing One Show That’s Great for Everybody

The Haygoods

If somebody asked me to recommend one show that works for just about everybody, this is almost always my answer.

Sure, you can get excited about the lasers, all the instruments, and people flying through the air. But for me, it’s a character named Banjo Boy. Honestly, that probably tells you everything you need to know about this show.

I’ve never had somebody come back and tell me they didn’t love it.

My tip: You better grab your tickets fast because this show is known for selling out well in advance. If Haygoods is on your list, don’t wait until you get to Branson to buy them.

I’ve also got 25% off tickets.

Best Broadway-Style Show

David at Sight & Sound Theatre

I’m a theater nerd, so this one is an easy recommendation.

This is your last chance to see David before it closes on October 8. On November 3, the theater switches over to Miracle of Christmas, so if you’ve been wanting to see it, don’t wait.

I’ve seen almost every production they’ve done, and I still catch myself wondering, “How in the world did they pull that off?”

One more piece of advice, and this goes for every show in Branson.

Buy your tickets directly from the show’s official box office.

Make sure you’re on the correct website before entering your credit card information. There’s a reason I don’t ask for your credit card on my website. I simply send you to the theater’s official website with a discount code so you can book directly with them.

That’s how I recommend buying tickets for every show in Branson.

Best Show for Families with Young Kids

Dolly Parton’s Stampede

If you’re bringing little kids, this is the show I recommend more than any other.

Most Branson shows expect kids to sit quietly for a couple of hours.

My kids would’ve never.

My daughter would’ve probably been fine. My son? He was the kid who wanted to stand up and ask theological questions during Miracle of Christmas at Sight & Sound.

Stampede is different.

Kids are encouraged to cheer, clap, yell, and get excited. You’re sitting in a horse arena, so unless your kid is completely crashing out and throwing biscuits at people, nobody’s going to care.

The horses, trick riding, music, and comedy keep things moving, so there’s always something happening.

Plus, the food’s not half bad.

I’ve also got a small discount waiting for you.

My Favorite Country Music Show

Melody Hart & The All-Star Band

Out of every show in Branson, this is my personal favorite.

They’re playing everything from Randy Travis to Ella Langley. It’s the old songs I grew up singing with my grandpa, mixed with the new songs my daughter and I sing in the car today.

I honestly think The Massengale Brothers have more talent in their pinky finger than some of the biggest productions in Branson.

There were grandparents dancing in the aisles and kids clapping right along with them.

I’ve also got 50% off tickets.

Best Show for Teenagers

ReVibe

I did not expect to like this show as much as I did.

I took my 12-year-old niece, and she absolutely loved it. My husband and I were singing right along with her.

They play everything from the Jackson 5 to Bruno Mars, so there’s something for every generation.

Then, during intermission, everyone heads upstairs for dinner while the cast keeps performing all around you.

I’ll be honest. I’m always skeptical of dinner shows because the food is usually just okay.

This one surprised me.

The food was actually good, and having the cast singing and playing instruments all around you while you’re eating made the whole experience even better.

My Favorite Fall Tradition

The Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Drama

If it hadn’t been for my grandma falling in love with this play years ago, I probably never would’ve ended up in Branson.

So yes… this one is personal.

There’s just something special about sitting outside under the stars on a cool fall evening while the story of the Ozarks unfolds in front of you. If you’re looking for a show that feels like the Ozarks, this is the one I’d recommend.

New This Fall

Legend of Sleepy Hollow

I think Branson has been begging for more family-friendly Halloween entertainment, so I’m excited to see Shepherd of the Hills debut The Legend of Sleepy Hollow this fall.

I love that they chose a classic instead of going with a bunch of gore and jump scares. I haven’t seen it yet, so I can’t give you a full review, but this is definitely one I’ll be checking out this season.

Only Here for a Limited Time

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

This one is only in Branson for a limited time, so don’t wait if it’s on your list.

I saw this production last year, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The acting, costumes, and sets are some of the best you’ll see in Branson. Before and after the show, the characters spend time in the lobby taking pictures with families, which is such a fun touch if you’ve got kids.

I’ve also got 15% off tickets.

Already Going to Silver Dollar City?

Don’t Miss the Echo Hollow Concerts

If you’re already planning a day at Silver Dollar City, don’t overlook the concerts at Echo Hollow Amphitheatre.

This fall they’re bringing in Diamond Rio, Aaron Tippin, and Sara Evans, and the best part is they’re all included with your park admission.

I actually had the chance to meet Sara Evans at the park, and she was just as delightful as you’d hope she’d be.

My tip: Get there early if you want a good seat. These concerts draw a crowd.

Final Thoughts

Branson has over 100 live shows, and I could’ve kept going all day.

There are plenty of other great shows in town, including The Duttons, Dean Z, Taylor Reed, and several more. These are simply the ones I’d recommend first because they’re seasonal, they’re leaving soon, or I think they’re too good to leave off the list.

One last tip.

Get to your show early.

Traffic on the Strip can be no joke, especially on October weekends. Nothing will get your anxiety going quite like walking into a dark theater after the lights have already gone down. Around here, there’s always a chance the people on stage are going to call you out.

Trust me. You don’t want to accidentally become part of the show.

Before you buy your tickets, don’t forget to check my discounts page. If I can save you a few bucks, I’m always happy to help.
