Halloween in Branson: Haunted Houses, Ghost Tours & Spooky Things to Do

When most people think about fall in Branson, they picture pumpkin patches, Harvest Festival at Silver Dollar City, and wholesome autumn traditions.

That’s because Halloween has never really been Branson’s thing.

Truth be told, it’s not really mine either.

But hey… if Halloween is your favorite holiday, you do you, boo.

There isn’t a ton of Halloween stuff to do around Branson, but I’ve put together a list of spooky attractions, haunted experiences, and Halloween-themed restaurants that I think are actually worth your time.

Hidden Pines is part of The Summit Food, Bar & Entertainment District, so if you’re looking for a full night out, you can enjoy dinner before heading to Silver Saddle for country dancing, Peek for nightlife, or one of The Summit’s special events.

Some of these are seasonal attractions, while others are open year-round but fit perfectly into a Halloween weekend.

🎃 Silver Dollar City’s Harvest Festival

If you’re expecting haunted houses and chainsaw-wielding clowns, Silver Dollar City’s Harvest Festival probably isn’t what you’re looking for.

This isn’t a scary Halloween event.

Instead, it’s all about giant pumpkins, thousands of glowing jack-o’-lanterns, whimsical decorations, and some of the prettiest fall scenery you’ll find anywhere in the Ozarks.

Once the sun goes down, though…

The park becomes hauntingly beautiful.

Fog rolls through Foggy Hollow, thousands of illuminated jack-o’-lanterns line the walking trails, and the entire park takes on a completely different feel after dark.

If you’re visiting with kids, don’t miss the dance party. It’s one of my favorite parts of the evening and a fun way to let them burn off some energy before heading home.

Harvest Festival is designed for all ages, so while it isn’t a traditional Halloween event, it will absolutely get you in the fall spirit.

For the first time ever, Silver Dollar City will also be open on Halloween night, making it a fun option for families who would rather celebrate with pumpkins and glowing lanterns than haunted houses.

🧟 Blast Zombies at Masters of Escape

If I could only recommend one Halloween activity in Branson, this would be it.

Masters of Escape already has my favorite escape rooms in town, but their Zombie VR Arena is on a completely different level.

They hand you a VR headset, put a toy gun in your hands, and suddenly you’re running around a massive room trying to survive a zombie apocalypse with your group.

I’ll be honest. When my son wanted to do this, I thought it was going to be the dumbest thing ever.

Five minutes later…

I was running around like an absolute crazy person, screaming at the top of my lungs while shooting zombies.

Apparently being an overprotective mama doesn’t stop during the zombie apocalypse.

There are a few jump scares, plenty of adrenaline, and you actually have to work together as a team to survive.

The Zombie VR Arena is especially fun for teens, adults, and groups.

Pro Tip: If you’ve never done one of their escape rooms, book one while you’re there. They’re the best escape rooms in Branson, hands down.

🎃 Hidden Pines Goes All Out for Halloween

Hidden Pines is one of the few restaurants in Branson that completely transforms with the seasons.

Spring.

Halloween.

Christmas.

Halloween and Christmas are when they really go all out.

They don’t just put out a couple of decorations and call it good.

They commit.

During Halloween you’ll find bubbling cauldron drinks, skeletons sitting at tables, larger-than-life spooky characters, and decorations around every corner.

Later in the season they also bring out one of my favorite fall menu items…

Their soup flights.

Hidden Pines is also part of Summit, which makes it a fun place to spend an evening. After dinner you can grab a drink, head over to the Silver Saddle, their cowboy-themed bar, or check out the nightclub if you’re looking for a little nightlife.

👻 Field of Screams Is Coming to Branson

This is the attraction I’m most excited to check out this fall.

Field of Screams is bringing a new haunted attraction called 9th Inning Nightmare to Ballparks of America, and it’s expected to be the largest haunted experience in Branson this season.

Based on everything they’ve shared so far, it looks like they’re going all in with elaborate sets, live actors, special effects, and plenty of jump scares.

Since this attraction is brand new, I haven’t had the chance to experience it yet.

I’ll come back and update this article after I survive… or don’t.

For now, if you’re traveling with teens or adults who love haunted houses, this is probably the attraction you’ll want to keep your eye on.

🧙 Visit Mythical 'Wich

If you prefer your monsters to be a little more whimsical…

Make your way to Mythical 'Wich.

This downtown sandwich shop celebrates Bigfoot, unicorns, dragons, the Ozark Howler, and just about every mythical creature you can imagine.

The colorful artwork alone is worth stopping in to see.

They’re best known for their sandwiches, but I actually think they have the best salads in Branson.

And don’t overlook breakfast.

Their breakfast sandwiches are incredible, and you absolutely need an order of the mini pancakes.

This isn’t a Halloween attraction, but if you love fantasy, folklore, and colorful décor, it fits perfectly into a spooky fall weekend.

🌮 Grab a Walking Taco at Walker’s

Walker’s is open year-round, but the zombie theme makes it an easy stop to add to a Halloween weekend in Branson.

If you’re not from the Midwest, a walking taco is exactly what it sounds like. They build your taco right inside a bag of chips, so you can grab it and keep exploring downtown.

The place is zombie themed, the owner is hilarious, and they’re always coming up with ridiculous food challenges.

The last time I visited, they had me spin the Mutation Station wheel to see what I’d have to eat.

I was really hoping not to land on brains or scorpions.

Instead…

They landed on the one where they get to choose for you.

That’s how I ended up eating a fried turkey testicle.

I’m still questioning my life choices.

This place doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s exactly why people love it.

There isn’t really seating here. It’s designed to be a quick grab-and-go stop while you’re exploring Historic Downtown Branson.

👻 Take a Downtown Ghost Tour

If haunted houses aren’t really your thing, but you still want a little Halloween atmosphere, check out one of Branson’s downtown ghost tours.

These walking tours combine local history with ghost stories and legends from around Historic Downtown Branson.

From everything I’ve learned, it’s more about storytelling than trying to scare the daylights out of you.

I haven’t had the chance to take one yet, so I can’t give you a full review, but it’s definitely on my fall bucket list.
