Escapology had only been open a couple of days when I went, and I definitely wasn’t expecting the English steampunk vibe when I walked through the door.

Then four grown adults took on Scooby-Doo, and I quickly learned that just because something is based on a cartoon from my childhood does not mean they’re going to make it easy for you. 😂 I’ve done a lot of escape rooms around Branson, and Escapology has officially tied for my favorite.

Escapology Branson at a Glance

My Escapology Branson Review

When I heard a new escape room had opened in Branson, the timing couldn’t have been better. People had already been asking me for more Halloween things to do.

So I grabbed my assistant, we brought our husbands, and the four of us went to check it out.

The lobby has a British steampunk feel with some great spots for pictures. The staff explained everything before we started, and then it was time to see if four grown adults could make it through Scooby-Doo.

Scooby-Doo Was WAY More Challenging Than I Expected

We chose Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Castle Adventure, and I had already decided in my head that this one was probably going to be easy.

Because… Scooby-Doo.

Nope!

I’d personally put the regular version around a 6 or 7 out of 10.

The room was full of throwback details from the cartoon I grew up watching, but don’t mistake nostalgic for easy. There were some cool screen interactions, good puzzles and enough going on that all four of us stayed involved.

And yes, we escaped.

We May Have Taken the Halloween Assignment Too Far

Remember, we were looking for Halloween content, and apparently we took that assignment a little too seriously. 😂

We also tried Mansion Murder, which was definitely creepier than Scooby-Doo.

Everything was going fine until a Ouija board came into play, and I totally panicked. Nope! 😂 I told the Game Master I was freaked out, and they were super nice about helping us bypass that part so we could keep playing.

Most people probably aren’t as big of a baby as I am, but I don’t mess with spirits. 😂

If you’ve got kids or someone like me in your group, check out the different themes before you book. There are plenty to choose from.

And yes, we escaped that one too.

These Aren’t Old-School Lock-and-Key Escape Rooms

If you haven’t done an escape room in years, you may be picturing the old-school versions where you’re basically hunting for keys and opening padlocks.

This isn’t that.

The rooms are well themed, with interactive elements that make the games feel much more modern than those first-generation escape rooms.

They let me peek inside several of the other rooms while I was there, and Arizona Shootout: Most Wanted is next on our list.

My husband’s favorite movie is Tombstone, so you already know we’re going back for that one. 😂

There are currently eight rooms to choose from:

With that many different themes, I’d take a minute to look through the options before booking and choose the one that works best for your group.

You Can Get Unlimited Hints

This is something I wish more escape rooms did.

Escapology gives you unlimited hints.

Your Game Master watches your group while you’re playing. There’s a screen inside the room where they communicate with you, and you’ll hear a sound when there’s something new to look at. There’s also a button you can use when you need help.

So if your entire group has collectively lost its last brain cell and you’ve been staring at the same clue forever, hit the button. 😂

For someone trying an escape room for the first time, this is a big deal. You don’t have to worry about using your last hint and then spending the rest of the game hopelessly stuck.

What About Kids?

Several Escapology rooms offer Kids Mode, including Scooby-Doo.

Kids Mode uses the same room, story and puzzles, but younger players get additional guidance from the Game Master and a Detective Checklist to help them along.

We did the regular version, so I can’t personally tell you what Kids Mode is like. But after doing Scooby-Doo, I could absolutely see this being a fantastic kids birthday party in Branson.

This would also work well if you’re traveling with a larger group. You could split up and do different rooms at the same time, with younger kids doing Kids Mode while teenagers and adults tackle something more challenging.

Who Would I Take to Escapology?

I would definitely put this on the list for families with older kids and teenagers, girls trips, bachelorette parties, birthdays and groups traveling together.

Four people felt like a good number to me.

You can play with two, but I personally wouldn’t want to tackle one of these rooms with only two brains working on it. 😂 So if you’re looking for a romantic date-night activity for two, this probably wouldn’t be my first pick.

It’s also completely indoors, so keep it in mind when you need something to do in Branson on a rainy day or when it’s too hot or cold to spend much time outside.
