Branson IMAX Entertainment Complex: Shows, Movies, Shopping & Discounts
I think a lot of people drive right past the Branson IMAX Entertainment Complex without realizing what’s actually inside.
Sure, there’s a movie theater, but that’s only part of it. You’ll also find a live theater, several unique shops, and one of Branson’s longtime restaurants, all under one roof. It’s an easy place to spend a fun morning, especially if you’re looking for something different to do.
Even better, I have a few discounts that can save you money while you’re there.

What’s Inside the Branson IMAX Entertainment Complex?
What I like most about this place is that there are several different things to do without driving all over Branson.
You probably won’t spend your entire day here, but you could easily spend a fun morning. Watch a show, browse the shops, grab a meal, or catch a movie before heading to your next adventure.
Another thing I appreciate is that this is a family-owned business. The last time I visited, it was obvious the family is still involved in the day-to-day operation. I always enjoy supporting family-owned businesses, and this one has been part of Branson for a long time.
If You Only Do One Thing, See Smoke on the Mountain
I’m just going to say it.
I have no idea why more people aren’t talking about Smoke on the Mountain because I honestly think it’s one of the most underrated shows in Branson.
If you grew up in church, this show is going to absolutely tickle your funny bone.
Seriously.
Every person who grew up in church is going to recognize somebody in this cast.
Normally, this style of comedy isn’t really my thing, but somehow this show pulls it off without feeling over the top. The cast is incredibly talented, and some of the characters who seem pretty quiet when they first walk on stage end up stealing the whole show.
I took my entire family, from college-age kids to my in-laws in their 70s, and every single one of us laughed our butts off.
One thing I wasn’t expecting was that the cast came outside after the show to meet everyone and take pictures. I always love when Branson shows do that because it makes the experience feel a little more personal.
Another bonus? This is a morning show, so it’s easy to fit into your vacation without giving up your evening.
Don’t forget to show the box office code SLBOPRY to save $10 per ticket.
Don’t Skip the Shops
The shopping is one of the most overlooked parts of this building.
I’ve gone in thinking I was just going to look around and somehow ended up leaving with earrings. Another visit it was board games. Another time it was home décor.
There are several different shops throughout the building, and they’re all a little different. Whether you’re shopping for yourself, your grandkids, or looking for a souvenir, it’s worth taking a few minutes to wander through before you leave.
Catch a Movie While You’re Here
If there’s a big movie coming out that I want to see, this is usually where I go.
It’s convenient, it’s comfortable, and if you’re already spending the morning at the IMAX Entertainment Complex, it’s an easy way to wrap up your visit with a movie.
The theater also shows Ozarks Legacy & Legend, a documentary about the history of the Ozarks. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen it, but it’s one of those Branson classics that’s stood the test of time. If you’re a history buff or just want to learn more about the Ozarks, I think it’s worth checking out. It’s also one of the more affordable attractions in Branson.
Show code SLBIMAX at the box office to save $2.50 per ticket.
Grab a Meal at McFarlain’s
McFarlain’s Family Restaurant is located right inside the IMAX Entertainment Complex, making it a convenient place to stop while you’re already here.
The restaurant is designed to look like an old Ozark log cabin and has been serving comfort food in Branson for years.
If you ask me, breakfast is my favorite meal here. It’s a great way to start your morning before browsing the shops or heading over to Smoke on the Mountain.
If you’re stopping by for lunch or dinner, don’t forget to use my Branson Show & Go discount.
Show your server code SLBMCFARLAINS to receive a FREE order of Fried Green Tomatoes with the purchase of two adult entrées.
Here’s What I’d Do
If I were planning my own Branson vacation, here’s how I’d spend my morning.
I’d start with Smoke on the Mountain because I honestly think it’s one of the best hidden gems in town.
After the show, I’d wander through the shops because I never know what I’m going to find in there.
If there’s a movie I’ve been wanting to see, I’d catch that before heading out.
And if I’m there around lunch or dinner, I’d stop by McFarlain’s and use my discount for the fried green tomatoes.
Most people think this building is just a movie theater.
Hopefully now you know it’s a whole lot more than that.
